Connecting Daily With God

While pondering what stands in the way of God’s children consistently spending time in God’s presence, the Holy Spirit reminded me what David wrote in Psalm 8:4. "what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?" David seems to express a sense of insignificance to God.

Have you ever felt insignificant and wondered if God really wants to spend time with you?

Does a feeling of insignificance stand in your way of spending time in God’s presence each day?

We might use the excuse that we don’t have time, but I think it may be deeper. It may be that we are not convinced that God wants to be in a personal relationship with us.

God reminded me of three truths. I hope they will speak to your heart.

The Bible is clear that God is present with us as individuals.  God’s Word proves from the beginning to the end of our lives he is intimately involved with us as individuals. God created us and called us to experience relationship with him in every moment of our individual lives.

And key to understanding our significance to God as individuals, is seeing that God’s actions take place with us as individuals, not as a general presence. I see this clearly in these three truths.

1.    God created each of us as individuals
2.    God redeems us as individuals
3.    God gives us entry to eternal life as individuals.

God created you a unique individual

The Bible tells us God knit you in your mother’s womb. He formed every bone. He created who you are. He planned the number of your days. God knows everything about you. He understands your every thought. Your fingerprints and DNA are unique. He gave you specific gifts, talents, calling and life purpose.

God saved you as an individual

When you were saved, it was God’s grace through faith extended to you as an individual that allowed you to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Your salvation was a personal decision, not a group event. And at your salvation, God established you in Christ and sealed you with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption.

God welcomes you into his eternal presence as an individual

The Bible tells us that when an individual dies, or is absent from the body, he or she is present with the Lord.  When you pass from this life you will be judged in Christ as a believer or non-believer. And, if a believer, you will be eternally in God’s presence.

Just as God has chosen to create, save and welcome you to his eternal presence as an individual, he also calls you as an individual into his presence daily. God created mankind as a place for his presence. God promises to reward those who draw near to him. In his presence you will find fullness of joy. God looks deep into every heart. God loves you. He is always listening. And when you meet with him, he will he will lead you and guide you, showing you the path of life.
